I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Ambassador Ling Qing. I feel the loss of a good friend. Please extend my love and heartfelt condolences to Madame Zhang. It was my hope that I could have had one more visit with him when I came to China. I do look forward to a time she and I can have a visit together when I am there and a time to recall happy memories. He is one of China's most outstanding statesmen who served his country well and helped to serve as a strong bridge in building friendships and understanding through out the world. HIs passing is indeed a great loss. There are so very few individuals in any country of his stature. The world mourns his passing. My heart goes out to Madame Zhang at this time.

   He made a major difference in our family and certainly played a vital role in in influencing Eric when he was very young because Ambassador Ling Qing and his wife came to our house in Ct when he was at the United Nations. That was a beginning of a lifelong friendship.They helped those in our family and so many other people throughout the world to have a positive impression of China and an increased desire to become more actively involved. They both laid the strong foundation and now others myst carry on in their tradition. with love and sympathy, Sharon
