Dear He Liliang,

      On behalf of the Stilwell and Easterbrook families, please accept our deepest sympathies on Huang Hua's passing.

      He was a giant of a man, not only in China, but worldwide. He set standards of courtesy, diplomacy, integrity, sincerity, warmth, understanding, and service to his country and so many organization that will be benchmarks for everyone….yet standards which will be unsurpassed.

      We are honored to have known him and experienced first-hand his wonderful personality. He will always be the epitome of all the positive characteristics my grandfather saw in the Chinese people.

      China, and the world, has lost one of the truly great men of our times.

      Our thoughts are with you at this most difficult time. However, we know that the memory of the joy and happiness the two of you experienced throughout your lives together will give you strength and sustain you.
